| MP Opinions - Help Requested |
AMIPP is interested in the opinions of MPs, and particularly in identifying MPs with convictions about honouring pension promises. We have just recently sent letters to many MPs - see the anonymised version.
Normally such letters produce a poor return - MPs face competition for their attention and there is a natural tendency for them to simply acknowledge ("Thank you for your letter, the content of which has been noted") or do nothing because the postcode of the sender is not in their constituency.
You would probably like to think that your MP gave pensions more consideration than that. This email asks you to contact your MP. It is easy to contact most MPs by email, even if you do not initially know their name.
What you say is, of course, up to you. We think it would be helpful if you asked for his or her "opinion on the IBM affair". By asking their opinion you may inhibit a response that says the letter has been forwarded to the Department of Work and Pensions for comment. By not narrowing the topic you may inhibit a legalistic response.
Whoever the MP is you can refer to the AMIPP letter by referring to the AMIPP website. If your MP is one of those listed below you can also say that they will have received (Royal Mail permitting) a paper copy addressed to them.

We know the listed MPs have at least one person who registered with AMIPP in their constituency. If you live in a constituency were you expect there to be several who would have registered, please contact the MP anyway. rather than rely on others. MPs reckon that anybody who makes the effort to contact them probably represents a set of voters with similar concerns.
If you keep us informed of what you do or learn, we will aim to summarise on the web. You can do that by telling the webmaster or using the Contacts page. Whether the exercise proves valuable will depend on the collective effort of those registered with AMIPP.
