I think we can all trust Mike in handing over, appointing new admins on either the current AMIPP site or over to any alternative offer. If he has any doubts then it will not happen.

Yes the logical and probably most desirable solution is for the AMIPP site to continue its long, trusted and reputable service it has offered to date. However for this to happen some new admins have to step up to the plate.

I have the time, and will to be an Admin on this site but Mike already knows why I can't stand.

The suggestion of a possible survey was to break a deadlock (deadlock is not the right word but I think/hope people understand) between two viable options on the table at this point in time. If no admins step forward to break the deadlock then a survey may give Mike and Mark the data they need to make their own decisions.

I say own decisions because actually there is opportunity/consequence of letting this AMIPP site die quietly.

If it is to die then people can do what they want. Set up an alternative, vote with their feet or whatever. If Mark knew that say 50 people would be willing to join his alternative offer then he may feel that 50 is worth the effort. If only 5 or 10 are interested then there is little point putting any effort into setting up his site/offer. Like wise Mike would know ahead of end of March what the likelihood of closure will be.

Anyway what is certain is that this site will die gracefully if nothing happens quickly and I think we owe it to all the past and current AMIPP site owners/admins to close this matter quickly so they can get on with their lives quickly and with no regrets etc.

If I were Mike, and although April 1st is the confirmed freeze date, I would be thinking of setting a Jan 31st date for a minimum of TWO new admins to come forward or some other firm decision. This gives everybody time to make the appropriate arrangements. Come 31st Jan if nothing has transpired then TOUGH! i.e. no new user Registrations, and the site will freeze on 30th March 2014.

Also, once frozen and for security reasons I would be looking to see all the user personal data, personal message stores, ip logs, etc. securely deleted. With no Admin and domain/server management going on then their is a security risk associated with an un monitored repository of personal data. Doing so is IMHO sensible, legitimate on grounds of security and also puts such information out of reach any legal or other authorities who may at some time in the future come digging around. We can all then be confident our personal data is destroyed and not have to worry about what my become if it.
