I have been passed the following email which may be of interest to those concerned about Equitable Life.

Dear Fellow Equitable Life Member

Thank you for supporting the Equitable Life Members' Help Group. We very much appreciate your support and hope that by working together as a united group we will get a satisfactory conclusion for all of us, particularly after the devastating news in July.

Our main aims are to keep members updated on information available to us through our website, including the latest press reports, which are updated daily. We are working as a united group with the other action groups, representing both GAR and non GAR on such things as the compromise agreement and mis-selling culpability of the advisors and regulators. We also had a meeting with the Board Wednesday 22 August regarding the compromise agreement and another is planned before the compromise agreement is actually issued.

Please look at our website as to people you can write to. We need to write to as many people as possible at the moment. If you are an annuitant you may like to join our newly set up Annuitants' group. The contact is Tim Balkwill.

You may also like to visit the website of the Motley Fool who have set up a special Discussion Board for Equitable Life on http://boards.fool.co.uk/Messages.asp?bid=50378. If you are not yet a member it is well worth a visit. Also http://www.themoneybag.com/ has a special board just for Equitable and some extremely good posts.

We are also looking for people to help organise small local groups of EL policy holders around the country. Up to around 12 people, who can converse by e-mail and possibly give local information about possible support. You may like to look at the South Coast site that Christine Jenkins has set up. She has managed to get one of the non execs to come along and talk to them. She also has set up a website for the group at http://members.aol.com/equitablesagroup/. Although this is not expected. If you would like to have information on a web site we can supply this for any of the groups, as we do for the International Group.

Kind regards Liz Kwantes
