I am appalled that the company for which I worked for 25 years (and used to trust) should be behaving in this way.
Today I spoke to an 'active' C plan member (I believe this is IBM-speak for an IBM employee contributing to a pension plan. That person had heard nothing about this problem. I also suspect that a majority of retirees is also unaware of the situation. May I suggest that we all inform as many people as we can who might be affected.
By the way, what are our recently elected Member Elected Directors of the IBM UK Pension Fund Trustee Board doing about this?
