When the M plan was announced I asked for a quote to transfer from the C plan. The figure given to me was the transfer value which is shown on the annual IBM benefit statement.
I was disappointed by how low the transfer figure was. It has no relation to the amount of contributions made by IBM or yourself. It is purely an actuarial calculation.
I can't find the information I received about transferring but I'll keep looking. I'm sure it included a graph showing I'd be better off staying with the C plan (which I did).
If IBM wanted people to transfer out of the C plan I'm sure they'd offer an incentive. At the moment IBM seems happy for the C plan to slowly die out.

: Ron - see my message headed "Does anyone fit this bill?" down below.
I'm anxious to discover exactly what transferees WOULD BE offered. You can ask
the Pensions folks to tell you. Being a retiree I can only ask the question
hypothetically - and the answer that comes back is vague.
: If you do ask, or get hard facts, let me know.
