In the letter that arrived from IBM this week with an update on the Equitable and Halifax situation I was surprised to see that if you leave IBM that is deemed a contractual change and funds can be withdrawn within 12 months without incurring the 10% penalty. This was news to me as I could not recall seeing it earlier. It might therefore be news to others.
Leaving IBM might be considered a drastic change... but for those who were
going to do so anyway it provides a way to extract AVCs from Equitable.
