I know next to nothing about how trade unions work but if you
are planning to be organised, could it be as a special interest
subgroup of a union?
Somebody put a union website address here (messages, Oct 6) and
a few clicks from that, on www.msf.org.uk, I found:
"Ford professionals win pensions victory: The new deal removes
the threat of a merger of the Professional Staff Pension Fund
with the Hourly Paid Pension Fund"
I don't know what that really means but it sounds like the same
area as our interests.
The MSF has 400,000 members so it is probably big enough to have
a department to help with legal advice. Also, I expect there is
some protection in union status - in the US there are laws about
employers not snooping on union activities. However, I stress
that I'm no expert in these matters.
