I don't think the parallels extend to philanthropy. As the link you gave said, the Gates Foundation has an endowment of $28 billion. The last figure for Gate's wealth that I saw, in 2002, put it at $59 billion.
Perhaps Lou Gerstner is comparably philanthropic, in a less public way :-)
