I was the global vice president of communications and an officer of the company. The CEO, who has since left the company, had personally recruited me for the job just 11 months before.
He was listening to a Diamondbacks playoff game on the radio and motioned for me to sit down and listen with him.
After the game was over and the CEO turned off the radio, he came and sat across the table from me. He asked me how I was doing and what I was up to. I thought the question foolish, since I had been with him almost the entire day. He then leaned across the table and said, "We are going to have to let you go."
He was red-faced.
