Observer: Blue in the face

A senior executive within International Business Machines' public relations group is probably sporting a red face after inadvertently sending an e-mail to a group of journalists about how the company will handle a wire service reporter.
The executive notes that a new reporter has been assigned to cover the company but cannot start for several weeks because he is on medical leave; in the interim, the news editor of the bureau in question will be filling in.
The IBM man then suggests that the media relations staff could score points with the editor by providing "real news" and going "light on the questionable 'news'." It may all be questionable now.
