Obviously, the exchange rate in Ballinsloe is far better than in Dublin !! Still, 2.2% is better than 0 % !! Don't get me wrong - I really DO resent the millions that the exec's have walked off with !! What did THEY do to further the future of the company ? At least I helped quite a few products to reach market and earn the corporation a few bucks !! And to think that I used to be proud to be an IBM'er
: Wow! The postman brought good news this morning. Old IBM came through yet again ......... a 2.2% increase to my pension. On opening the missive, not for me a Homeric detachment or any sign of disinterest. I gave a Whoop and a Holler and grabbed my calculator. Fevered calculations announced the fact that I could now have an extra night of gaiety in Sean's Bar (Athlone) each week. Not only that, the increase facilitated the extra few gallons of gasoline which would now allow me to drive in style to and from my favourite drinking establishment. That Garda doing his nightly duty on the town bridge tonight will get a shock when I whoosh past in my 89 Fiesta giving him a fine "Haloooo" and a gentle envelopment of exhaust gases. No more wet midnights pushing hard on the pedals of my 53 Rudge as I head East against the moaning wind. Let's hear it for IBM!
