Ah Ha! I missed the fact that there was a small extra payment with my first pension cheque which turns
out to be Q plan commuted to a one time payment. I can't trace having been advised prior to leaving IBM that the Q plan would be commuted to a one time payment. The payment was in the region of 5-6 years' worth. I'm still hoping to live far longer than that after age 65, so I have no idea how the sum was calculated, but can't help feeling it should have perhaps been more. I'll post again if I find out.
