I left IBM in 1977 after 10 years service and withdrew my VE plan contributions for reinvestment. The Q and V plan I could not withdraw.
Some time before I was 65 I approached IBM to see if there was anything in the fund from the Q and V plan. Initially they denied all knowledge and said there was nothing.
I emailed an elected trustee with concerns about what happened to my pension transfer in the 1970's. My subsequent involvement with Pensions Administration has resulted in money appearing for me. It seems that if you are unsure whether you have a justified grievance or not then emailing an elected trustee may help your understanding, and may even pay off as it certainly did in my case.
