:: They can register a false name but MUST register a valid e-mail address.
But it is very easy to register with a valid e-mail address and still remain anonymous and untraceable. Without proper authority and/or much time and effort the webmaster would be still unable to verify the identity of "Fred@btinternet.com" or "Bloggs@hotmail.com". Asking for valid email addresses does not solve the problem.
::..... password entry from then on is automatic. ....... Also the system can forward messages from people via the web forum without giving away identity.
This creates its own set of problems associated with security and preventing hacking. Putting lists of passwords, alias and email addresses on the webserver would require high levels of security, firewalls, logging, monitoring, backup and recovery and so on. This would increase the workload immensely.
