These are difficult dilemmas for us wrinkly IBM'ers. There's a genuine "love" and regard for the old company. But many feel that the company welched on the deal they made with us. So the choice is do we respond in like. Or do we let it go and let them "get away with it".
A potential strategy would be a letter from AMIPP firstly to UK management and then to Palmisano explaining what the UK pensioners feel and asking whether they plan to rectify some of the issues eg giving us a pension that is amongst the best.
If not then this is where it get's potentially difficult and possibly divisive amongst the AMIPP membership. For example an option is a press campaign explaining why IBM has become untrustworthy as a corporation. But this has the risk of cutting off our nose to spite our face. In a sense we're risking the whole pension fund to try and get better increases.
So this is where the debate must start with all "members" contributing ideas to see what we could do and how far we should go, and to see whether a consensus emerges.
