Nigel,
There's nothing to be discredited about. I also don't understand Beemer, maybe he's confused because of your dynamic stance. It's natural for a great consultant like you to temporarily hide the fact that you are a contractor to your former employer. I'm sure that you are a great source of information to IBM. Nothing unusual in doing that. You could be giving them an insight in government IT and even providing crucial insight about IBM retirees comments as a classical "over delivery".
I understand your reticence (as well you should) to answer in a straightforward manner to these posters. However, I think they are confused. You said back in January 11 of 2002 (C-Planner's Board) that you'd crossed with the company 2 times and never dealt with them again. Now it seems you are back on the IBM payroll as a consultant, maybe for some time now. Nothing wrong with that! They appreciate your services and information as a consultant. That reflects positively on your skills and ability to influence the "old bonkers"!
Maybe what you might consider is to describe on this board your recent financial or social relationship with IBM outside of the pension and this board. That could go a long way with these posters.
