Well my colleagues,
While the retirees await in vain for the answers to questions that will never be answered, the rest of the company is about to be massively changed. Change in IBM these days is always downward, of course. The shareholders like Lou must be satisfied and the revenue is continuing to drop.
Word on the street is that now that the PCD unit sale to Toshiba has fallen through (they wanted the ThinkPad) Greenock will be hit to the tune of 300 - 400 redundancies. They are still trying to move all work to China an Easter Europe, but no one wants to buy our plants. Hursley will suffer a higher percentage due to the move of programming to Hungary and Brazil as well as India. The worst percentages will be saved, as usual, for IGS and S&D.
The IBM train is moving quickly. The final solution, developed in the early 90's, will make Treblinka look like a small sideshow. We will be joining our South African friends soon in the bread lines.
