: Stepping to far out of line would give the Trust sufficient room to dispose of their services.
If this should happen, or perhaps if one of the newly elected MEDs is unable to complete his term of office, then it would seem fair and sensible to appoint in his place the next most eligible person from the election list. Whilst it would not be right to publish the final rankings of the election, I would hope that this information is kept somewhere (perhaps at the Electoral Reform Service offices) and used when an MED resigns or is not able to do his duty.
I hope that those candidates who narrowly missed being elected this time will be ready to offer their services if called upon to serve as a replacement MED before the next election becomes due.
