: : My friend relied to me along these lines regarding Barclays
"The Bank is in the Appeal Court on its case. I feel there are
problems with every pension fund (since Maxwell) and there still don't
appear to be controls in place.
The Bank wants a couple of things as I recall. First, they want a 'holiday'
from paying in to the fund (arguing that it has loads of money) and second
they want to move some funding into the new pension scheme (where a
deduction is made monthly into a separate scheme to which the Bank
contributes much less) [my pension was non-contributory. We argued that our
salaries were lower as a result, and so did the Bank at pay review times -
short memory].
