There are some faceless mandarins at play here, gaining from the
effect without being seen to be protagonist in this betrayal of
trust. This did not take place without the collusion of the chain
of command at various stages.
I acknowledge that it is irresponsible to suggest storming the
Winter Palace and lynching these people, and in the spirit of this
serious website I would caution against the emotional response.
However, I would be very keen to ensure that the individuals that
made the key decisions to progress this policy are named and shamed
for their betrayal of their fellow team members.
A "group" 360 degree would be appropriate, if not of the
individuals then of the decision forums that pursued the decisions,
followed by a vote of no confidence in their judgement. In the light
of the poor morale that is acknowleged across the services
business, this would help to demonstrate another example of the
expediency that is destroying the value of company's assets - the
potential in the people. I fail to see how this act helps
individuals to motivate themselves to release that potential
for the good of the shareholders.
In the meantime I am going downtown to find a good ship's chandlers...
