Equitable

Only one message about Equitable on this board since last year. That could be because people lost interest in the message board when nobody could give very good answers, but from what I hear we should attribute it to the Trust making a good job recently of telling members what is going on.

I hear of a couple of things that some thought were glitches in what the Trust did:

There was a period when the trust decreed that an individual couldn't take his/her value out of the trust and put it elsewhere. When that period ended the penalty for taking it out was higher than the penalty would have been if earlier transfers were allowed.

There was a period when it would have been a good deal for the people with GAR to put in extra money, so as to get the eventual uplift on that money. The trust's advisers told the trust that at a pertinent time, but the trust didn't pass on the reasoning to members while it was still relevant.

However, it should be acknowledged that whatever the Trust did, it was liable to have imperfections from somebody's viewpoint.
