There is an article in today's Times 'Equitable holders face a
continuing freeze on bomuses'.
Current C Plan members who have made AVC contributions will be affected
by this. It seems to
me that the combination of the concerns with C Plan pensions increases
after retirement
and the reduced value of AVC contributions will make employees reluctant
to take early
retirement. We may see employees 'soldiering on' to near normal
retirement age, something that
has not happpened in IBM for many years.
