Election Statement
It's hard to
think about pensions without feeling angry. We feel the fund is attacked from
outside and in. A department
we once trusted
now won't give you advice, for fear of being sued. The IBM board considers the
fund largely a means of inflating profits. What was once a symbol of trust between employee and
employer has become a source of constant
worry.
No wonder we need MEDs. But we need MEDs who don't disappear without
trace. We need MEDs who aren't in awe
of the corporation, and aren't afraid to be seen to
fight for the members' interests.
I appreciate that few of you will consider this your ideal manifesto. But
I would hope that as many of you as possible
could put a `2'
next to my name.
If you have any
questions, I'd be delighted to hear from you. Send me an e-mail at
wilsogj@uk.ibm.com.
