Election Statement

Currently chairman of an international committee maintaining a programming language standard, of the Association of Members of IBM UK Pension Plans, www.amipp.org.uk and of the Confederation of Occupational Pensioners Associations www.copas.org.uk

Never a member of any political party or union.

Occupational pensions are not corporate charity.  They stem from a bargain bought with work.  The purpose of discretions is to deliver that bargain.

If you are thinking of voting for an employee (rather than a retiree who understands employee issues) you should note that if the employee loses their job the replacement will be chosen by the directors (a majority of whom are IBM appointed) and the appointment will need IBM's approval.  See www.amipp.org.uk/elect  for the details.
